SitRep: Clichy gives an interview, amongst which he says something along the lines of “Arsenal fell away towards the end of the season“, this is misquoted by some people on Twitter – cue a rain of utter bile towards Clichy for his “disloyalty” and the “fact” that he “is the worst offender and shouldn’t criticise anybody else”.
These reactions were/are complete knee-jerk reactions by (a) idiots who can’t be bothered to read/watch what he said himself, (b) idiots who hated Clichy in the first place and are happy to have any chance to slag him off, and (c) idiots.

Amongst what he actually said was “I want the best for Arsenal. If players leave, the manager is smart enough to bring people in.” which for me is pretty categorical and loyal.
But especially this: “We put so much effort in to get something for the fans but we just couldn’t make it“
I’d like to draw your attention to the bit I’ve underlined above. In no way does he absolve himself of blame, despite the fact that he always put the effort in, especially when so many others didn’t.
Back at the start of the season when Arshavin was wandering about the field like a tit in a trance, Clichy was running his arse off to get forward and get back, all with no bloody cover.
I’ve said it before, some people have it in for him, and he doesn’t deserve that kind of hatred and disrespect. His actions and few comments in leaving Arsenal do him the utmost credit, and whilst I would never wish for City to beat Arsenal (ever), I do wish him success in his career, wherever it takes him.
